If you and your family are on your Port Macquarie holidays but have been unfortunate enough for rain to put a dampener on your plans, never fear -- all is not lost! There are plenty of indoor activities to participate in that are nice and close to the CBD. Here we look at five of the best rainy day activities that Port Macquarie has to offer.

Centre of Gravity
52 Jindalee Road, Port Macquarie
10 minutes south-west of CBD

Aside from the clever name, we love Centre of Gravity because there is just so much to do. To start with, if you're into rock climbing, there are over 70 climbs to choose from, with a range of different wall shapes and sizes from six to 15 metres high. Saturday nights even offer night climbing with colourful lights, music and fun for all ages. And while the centre is best known for its rock climbing, you can also try the futuristic Dark Zone Laser Skirmish -- a double-story, labyrinthine arena of fun.

Jumbos Playland
17 Merrigal Road, Port Macquarie
10 minutes south-west of CBD

If the kids are a little bit younger, than Jumbos Playland will be your best bet. Catering to children aged 0 to 10 looking for loads of fun -- as well as parents looking for great food and coffee -- it's the largest "soft" play centre on the mid-north coast. The biggest attraction is the six-metre-high maze that comes with fun swings and slides, as well as the six-and-a-half metre bouncy slide. Toddlers are given a large ball pit to play in, as well as a push car race track and a tiny town with various shops. For the parents, Jumbos offers a 150-seat cafe complete with delectable meals and fantastic coffee.

Kids Crazy Maze
2 Albert Circuit, Port Macquarie
5 minutes west of CBD

Giving Jumbos a run for its money is Kids Crazy Maze, which also has the advantage of being a little bit closer to the Port Macquarie CBD. It's aimed at children up to 12 years old, so the crowd may be a little bit older as well. Highlighted by its mega climbing maze that comes complete with slides, flying foxes and two different ball pits, kids will have fun for hours. Parents are also catered for with Danes Gourmet Coffee and comfortable, air-conditioned facilities.

Life Express Fitness Centre
160 Hastings River Drive, Port Macquarie
8 minutes west of CBD

If you've got no kids but the rain is keeping you away from Port Macquarie's stunning outdoor adventures, then Life Express Fitness Centre will keep you active and entertained. With state-of-the-art gym equipment, a full range of cardiovascular machines and a range of fitness classes including indoor cycling classes, body combat, body pump, yoga, tai chi and Pilates, it's just a short drive west of your Port Macquarie hotel (if you're staying in the CBD).

Port City Wave Bowl
159 Hastings River Drive, Port Macquarie
8 minutes west of CBD

Located right next door to the Life Express Fitness Centre is this fantastic tenpin bowling venue -- always a popular choice on a rainy day. Wave Bowl boasts 12 lanes with electronic scoring, as well as a cafe and arcade amusements -- basically, everything you'd expect from a tenpin bowling centre. They've also got all the equipment to make sure the whole family can participate, including lane bumpers, ball ramps and lightweight balls.
